Every Tuesday, throughout the year, Illinois residents enjoy free admission. The MCA box office opens a waiting list one hour before the program starts. At that time, the numbers are delivered to customers on a first-come, first-served basis, one number per user per ticket. As tickets become available, the box office staff indicates the numbers on the waiting list.
Admission is free for Illinois residents on Tuesdays. Bike parks are located on the corner of Mies van der Rohe Way and East Pearson Street; on the corner of Mies van der Rohe Way and Chicago Avenue; and inside the MCA garage on Chicago Avenue, just east of the museum itself. Due to continued growth, in 1990 the museum signed a 99-year lease on the site of the Illinois National Guard's Chicago Avenue Armory and, in 1992, organized a specific exhibition in the empty building before its demolition.
